Its been a few days since I've came back from cruise and I'm still coping terribly with the merciless weather back in Singapore. Seems like im down with post-cruise-depression. I shall try to relief my suffering by reminiscing about our eventful trip. You'll have to do without the pictures because our dear Rebecca has disappeared before we can get our claws on the photographs.
Sunday (3 June)
After a crazy queue to get on board the ship, and after a couple of photo-taking with furry mascots, we helped ourselves to champagne at the reception lobby. Next, before the bubbly champagne got to my head, we had lunch at BellaVista at around 2+pm. Then we proceeded to our lovely balcony cabins. It seemed smaller than we had remembered it to be, but it was cosy & comfortable nonetheless. So the 4 of us were gonna share the room together, and we quickly made ourselves at home.
Suddenly we realised that- Horror of horrors, Ivy's & my luggage had gone missing! We informed the porters and they launched a frantic search for my inconspicuous black suitcase. After the 3rd try, the officer seemed exhausted and on the brink of a nervous breakdown. So he offered his good-looking partner as compensation if he couldnt find my luggage. Haha, I cheerfully took up his offer. FINALLY, he presented my missing suitcase at the door and i was really grateful for their efforts. Just as they were leaving, i told them that I'll take him home if they lost my luggage again when we leave the ship. Haha.
While in our cabin, we overheard kids next door singing the annoying powerpuff girls theme song. As a result we acted out a dramatic & tragic scene of all 3 powerpuff girls dying at the hands of the cruel & formidable MoJoJoJo, loud enough so that they can hear us clearly from wherever they were. Hahaha. We havnt heard from them since. I bet they were traumatised. Effective trick huh? Haha.
We had dinner, admired the stars on the top deck & watched KUNGFU ACTION at the Lido theatre. I thought it was boring, I've seen too much of this in China. We trooped over to the Galaxy of the Stars after that. We took a short tour at the Captain's Bridge to get a patient captain to wave to us eager kids. So soon after, thats when the fun started, because we got dragged out of our seats to play some games, hosted by the vivacious staff there. First, they made us do some dance, which made us look totally unglam. Next, we played a 'sleeping beauty, cinderalla, fiona etc' game which works something like musical chairs. Wanhua won that. Hahaha. Congrats. Then, there was another game which required couples to get into certain poses when the game-host call out the different names of the poses. Rebecca got paired up with Daniel(the cute ozzy boy), Ivy got paired up with the older Ozzy brother (We couldnt get the name. haha), and i got paired up with Sean. (WH escaped since she won the earlier game.) I thought he looked like he was 17 because he was so shy, i didnt want to talk to him & frighten him. Anyway, after many crazy rounds, i got kicked out & ivy & becca were the last 2 couples left standing. Haha. No surprise, Becca & Daniel won the game eventually. You shoulda seen the determined look on her face during the game. Daniel & his bro were super high on alcohol by the way. So after the prize presentation, the ozzy guys were egged on by the hosts to join us at our table. So we made some small talk with them and even went to visit the celebrity disco. Unfortunately, the place sucked really bad. So we left & back to Zzzzzz.
Of course we managed to get high talking cock and laughing until 2+am in the morning. Sorry neighbours! haha.
Monday (4 June)
Rebecca woke up at 6+am to go for a jog & woke me up too! I was being a major bitch in the ass when she threw open the curtains. Haha. Now she knows how to piss me off in the morning. We slept til 9+am, then Ivy & I hit the gym. After which we had lunch at the Mediterranean Terrace, you should have witnessed our PUNNY jokes. Like how Becca was having None of the Naan or us being mean to the Mint Mousse, and stuff like how we didnt mean(mint) it. It was a lazing about day, so WH & Becca changed into swimsuits & hit the pool. Ivy & I stayed dry, lazing by the poolside. Ivy was suntanning properly. I did my usual selective tanning instead. They finally coaxed me into the Jacuzzi with them and i yelped in pain. The water was SOOOOOOO HOT. But it was good after a while. By then my face was red after being in the sun/heat. We showered yet again, probably had dinner and then watched a 'Beyond Broadway' show put up by the cruise staff. I loved the drag queens in Moulin Rouge. We then to the games room to play Monopoly Junior. I sucked. :( And the 3 of them sucked me of all my money. Im a sore loser! Haha. So our time ran up and we went for an evening stroll on the top deck as well. We were belting songs in the roar of the wind and admiring the starry night sky. It was a good time to sit around and talk about intimate issues close to our heart. Haha. By the way, the moon was especially round & large & ORANGE. I'm serious. Haha. I even have a picture to prove it. Little did we know that it was already 11+pm, so we went back to check out the supper buffet spread. Afterwhich we headed to bed. It's the Ho Chi Minh full-day tour the next day.
Tuesday (5 June)
We woke up bright & early, grabbed a quick breakfast and alighted the ship which had docked itself at Phu My Sierece Port in Vietnam. When i threw open the balcony glass doors, a stench hit us. Urgh, it was badddd. Nevertheless, we were excited at the prospect of visiting this exotic land. We got off, took the mandatory photos with a lady in Vietnamese costume, and waved good morning to those Vietnamese school-going kids with flowers & straw hats. We then became the more enthusiastic and noisy passengers on the bus towards the city central. We probably pissed everyone off on the 2 hour bus ride.
We arrived at the Museum of National History. It looked really grand but it wasnt airconditioned and it left everyone hot & bothered & wet with perspiration. We were too used to the cruise's comfortable temperatures and thus we were squirming under the hot SEAsian mainland sun again. Anyway our tour guide is a really nice guy called NAM, he seemed really amused by us 4 giggly girls and always tried to engage us. He's a lousy guide in the sense that he kept losing his tour group members. All the old aunties couldnt catch up with him, especially with the stairs. It reminded me of why i hated tour groups so much. You never have enough time to observe, read & admire everything in the room. You get rushed around everywhere like livestock.
Our next stop was the Museum of National History and we watched a really entertaining folk water puppet show. We were screaming, half in delight & half in disgust at the dirty, murky water shot at us from the water stage. Haha, full marks for an authentic experience. Then, we had another quick walk through the historical milestones in Vietnamese history. We even met this nice lady who has been mummified.
Before lunch, we took pictures of the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Municipal Post Office. FYI, the restaurant which we had lunch at was quite terrible. Too packed & we got wet when the roof leaked in the rain. After a wet trek back to our bus, we had a drive through their Chinatown and then stopped at the Binh Tay Market. Our brief shopping experience was ruined there, as we were rudely treated by the aggressive shopkeepers there. They refuse to let you go, once u enquire about their products. They roll their eyes when u look and didnt want to buy. Maybe its because its a touristy place. We stepped into the local toilet & got a earth-shaking culture shock as well. It was super chaotic, flooded, and crowded. We didnt know how to go about navigating the cubicles since we didnt know how to speak Vietnamese. Thankfully, we survived the loo trip, as well as the unmemorable shopping trip. In fact, we were glad to be on our way back to the cruise ship. Well, but it started to pour and the light shower eventually grew into a heavy thunderstorm which flooded the roods.
We were all well-prepared to brave the rain & wind when we got off the bus to board our ship, but to our disappointment, the port was well & dry. The staff kept asking us whether it rained outside, much to my embarrassment as I was still in my blue plastic poncho. It came in handy anyway, because it was really cold in the the ship. We also met Daniel along a corridor and exchanged quick greetings, then Ivy yelled a disclaimer in the swirls of wind as he went past us briskly," We dont look like this everyday!" Haha. Anyway, we thought HCM was a chaotic mess of scooters, motorbikes & bicyles. Lane markings are just rough guidelines to follow. You'd be dead without a Loud reliable Horn to signal directions. They have no qualms about putting their lives on the line by cutting across 3 lanes to make a left turn.
Fresh & clean after removing HCM's grime, the day's sweat & dirt, we went for dinner with WH's grandma & Margret at the Pavilion. We watched another performance and went to soak up the moonlight at the jacuzzi at night. We were singing unabashedly to ourselves, this guy was even video-taping us in the Jacuzzi. Haha. After we got chased off at 10pm, we washed up and then headed to the Galaxy of the Stars at Becca's insistence. Since the 'Beyond Broadway' show, she had a major crush on Goldie, and thus going to Galaxy was a sure way of seeing him and his friends. Surprise surprise, we got coaxed into playing another game called, " Name the tune, sing the song". Something along those lines. Haha. They played all sorts of retro songs which i couldnt identify, after much un-glam attempts at singing songs which i dont know, wh & i emerged runner ups! Becca's group won the first prize. haha. Becca's face glowed as she took pictures with Goldie & Juliet. Haha. Then when the show-band came out, the lady was asking us about the Ozzy boys. Haha. She also pulled us out of seats to dance.
Then, we were at our table, minding our own business when Leon plonked himself down on the seat behind us & started to ramble about whether I remembered Sean who my partner on Sunday night. They are colleages blah blah. Blah blah, I said yes & he said Sean would like to get to know me better blah blah. So he got Sean over & i introduced the 2 guys to my girlfriends (minus IVY, who stayed in the cabin to recharge her batteries.) Well, Sean was overwhelmingly shy and reserved, but Leon tried to arrange a date for us to have breakfast or lunch the next day. As usual, i was nice and thus i agreed and then we decided to head back to get some rest. Zzzzz...
Wednesday (6 June)
I was slowly awakened by Rebecca's Westlife music from her laptop. She was hiding on the Balcony without anyone's knowledge. I thought the unwelcome noise was from a disgruntled neighbour who wanted to take revenge! So anyway WH didnt managed to coax us out of bed at 9am to go for breakfast, she then went for Brekky by herself. Haha. Since i found a hungry, post-workout Rebecca on the balcony, i sent her after WH and then woke Ivy up to go for breakfast with me. After a satisfying breakfast, we went back to the room to find the pair. We then went to the PhotoGallery to look for our pictures. So surprise surprise, we met leon & sean there. So after some small talk, we had lunch with them at BellaVista. We positively traumatised them during the lunch, because we described this chocolate decoration as a sperm. So we started making sperm jokes- What do u call a big sperm? Sperm-whale! hahaha. OK so the dessert course went along these lines. The 2 guys refused to eat their chocolate after that. Haha.
It was another slack day, so we went to borrow Cluedo from the activity centre to play in our room. After being sabohed big time by the other 3 girls, we decided to go for tea-time buffet and then went back to the room to get ready for the Gala Dinner night. My greatest achievement that evening, was to put on fabulous eye makeup for our Dear Becca, who has since came a lonnnnnnng way from being a tom-boy. Now shes a lovely young lady. So, after we were all glamourous & pretty, we stepped into the lobby to watch the gala night fashion show & took lots of pics with everyone. Drank alot of champagne & after all that woo-ha, we went to watch the Gala Night Extravaganza show. After that, we proceeded to Noble House to have our dinner. As usual, we laughed alot & educated Becca on the finer points of Chinese Dining. haha. After dinner, we went to our usual post-dinner haunt- Galaxy. There, Sean joined us and we observed 3 married couples playing a compatibility game. Haha, then it was the show band playing more romantic love songs & evergreen classics. We got up to dance around abit with the lovey dovey angmoh couples who looked like they were at their own high school dance. When the show band went off to take a break, we approached the DJ to ask for some RnB songs. Haha. He obliged and so we were happily grooving, with the Ozzy's loud approval. Haha. Guess our charms worked on everyone beautifully. Then we took pictures with the staff as well as the DJ & the latter asked for all our email adds. It was quite funny.
Thursday (7 June)
We woke up at 8am and took the boat to Redang Island. It was a hot & bright day with azure skies. As we approached the beach at Laguna Beach Resort, we got more excited as the horizon appeared before us. The beach is GORGEOUS! Haha. So we borrowed 4 beach towels which needed a 100SGD deposit, which made us super anxious about the towels. Anyway we found a deck chair, dumped our stuff & went into the cool & inviting waters. We supported Goldie by dancing YMCA under his instructions from the beach. After that, our favourite DJ was playing all the popular rnb/hiphop songs, much to our delight. So we were dancing in the sea, in between wading/swimming around looking for corals & fishes. Haha, then i met this heavily tattooed chinese guy who spoke to me.
"Hey, where are you from?"
"Singapore. You?"
"JB."
"Haha, I see. Same same lah."
"Yeah, same same. You got boyfriend?"
Then, i was stunned by this question. At that moment, I was thinking- AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
But of course, I was too well brought up to do such impolite things, so because i noticed this girl beside him who gasped really loudly when he dropped the bomb on me, i coolly replied, "Orh Hor, see, your girlfriend is angry already!" Then i ran away, leaving the girl to protest that she isnt his girlfriend. Haha.
So we decided to get cleaned up & grab some lunch before we all died from hunger. The gift i got from the sun there was a damn serious sunburn. My cheeks were BLISTERED, according to WH, its a 2nd degree burn. Haha. I had a red back & white ass. I'm a monster. RArrr. So yeah, we went back & piled on Aloe Vera like theres no tomorrow. We waited till 6pm for dinner & watched the jackpot bingo & then watched the performance & then went to Galaxy again. We saw Sean doing the Limbo! Then we egged Becca to join too. Too bad she couldnt win it for us, cause she wore a skirt. Haha. Anyway, Rebecca & Ivy felt too damn shagged & went back to the cabin, leaving Wh & me to chill out on our last night. We ordered a margarita, which was heavenly.
Daniel & his bro came in to galaxy as well & grooved to 1 song, before coming over to catch up with us. Sean was super high on alcohol that night, and WH liked him better that way. Haha. Good thing hes a happy drunk. After Sean bid farewell, Daniel joined us again and we continued to bitch about the stuff which happened on board the ship. We talked about Singapore & Australia, his job as a motorbike mechanic & how he abstained from alcohol because he does motor-crossing. In fact, he told us that because he didnt have pens with him during the jackpot bingo earlier, they were using peas to put on their bingo tickets! Haha. He's a fascinating person to talk to. Haha, the funny part was when then show band lady noticed him with us & dedicated a song to "MR DANIEL talking to the 2 girls over there". All of us wanted to sink into our seats & disappear. haha. The Ozzies were egging us to go dance on the dancefloor too. It was all really funny. I wrote him a long list of clubs for them to check out before they return to Perth. He asked us along too, although we agreed, we didnt show up anyway. We were too shagged. Plus I was disfigured! Haha. So, we left the place eventually to ZZzzzz.
Friday (8 June)
Our last day on board, we woke up & packed up. Rushed to pay our cabin charges & then had breakfast. Went to Galaxy to watch Ms Universe Bingo which involved Goldie & friends in drag to host the Bingo session. Haha. After that we were made to play some hula hoop game & the DJ tried his very best to help us since he was the one in charge of stopping the music. Hahaha. The CUTE Ozzy toddler won anyway. We then went back to the room to rot a little, feeling very reluctant to leave to ship before being whisked out of our rooms. We headed for lunch & then got prepared to get off as we docked at the Singapore port.
The End.
