Weekend of Indulgence

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY TO JOSHUA!
Sorry, we forgot to take pictures!
We had dinner Essential O Brew at Holland V,
before heading to Walas to check out Shirlyn & the Unexpected.
The above is our giant apple crumble with a weird green tea sauce,
and a mismatched 'choc-mint' icecream topping because of me.
Haha. In the background,
it is the more normal brownie with a weird 'Strawberry Surprise' Icecream according to the boys.

My saturday afternoon was spent watching RAMBO 4.
Its actually GOOD. Hahahaha. (I know, I know.)
Spoiler alert -- Rambo saves everyone's asses in the end.
I liked the fact that he managed to create awareness
about the immense cruelty and savageness of the Burmese Junta.
And I'm really surprised at how i managed to stomach all that
violence, blood, flying intestines, beheaded corpses and rotting heads.
Well, I guess thats a good thing, because thats commonplace in war.
Unfortunately, while sympathetic people want to help the tortured Burmese civilians,
we are nevertheless helpless.
What can we do about Burma? Or about any other war-torn place?
I guess war, suffering and violence will never be eradicated.
World peace will never be achieved,
but I can still hope, cant I?
This was the crucial moment where he saved the lousy mercenaries from the Burmese Army.

Another classic Rambo pose.
He looked much better in the jungle than when hes all cleaned up with bad hair & jeans in USA.

Before all that action,
its Saturday Brunch with Dixi & Sarah at the much-talked-about Mimolette!
Since Dixi has reclaimed the use of BOBBY! Haha.
Its at Fairway Drive, which is hidden at the left hand side of Eng Neo Ave.
You gotta drive in through a narrow road, lined with lotsa of greenery.
It feels as if you have left Singapore accidentally via a secret doorway,
and chanced upon a rustic countryside, where time doesn't exist (at least not consciously).

We sat outside, basking in the sunlight.
Catching the slightest breeze in that balmy weather.
It felt as if it was our own house
and we were having a leisurely brunch in our own lovely veranda.
The experience was made complete with newspapers brought along by Dixi. Haha.
Brunch was bliss.
It's a novelty to spot horses walk around you
and instead of the grey urban jungle, you actually see rolling hills (optical illusion, but oh well), outstretched old trees lending their shade and foliage to the beauty of the location.

Sarah's Farmer's Breakfast! $20++

Dixi's Corned Beef Hash! $19++

My Roast Chicken sandwich. $18++
Oh FYI, 'Still' water refers to $7++ FIJI water.
So please ask for ICED TAP WATER. Haha.
We visited the CROSSROADS garage sale at Cairnhill CC after that as well,
and we got surprise great buys!
Especially the old school arcade-style joystick for 8bucks!

FridayI stuck to my friday morning tradition
and I went to the poolside after all.

Choupinette at Bukit Timah Road
My Chou Chou Set Lunch at $21+ is featured above.
A smoked salmon sandwich,
I chose Tea as my drink,
& a Creme Brulee as my dessert
Its kinda pricey, but the food was satisfying.
The interior decor was really pleasant as well.
